$12.5 million awarded to partners for Delaware River watershed conservation
Today, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation announced its 2025 grant awards for the Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund. The Wildlife Management Institute (WMI) and its partners, including Bird Safe Philly, are recipients of a grant entitled, “Increasing connectivity for migratory birds in the Delaware Watershed by reducing bird collisions.” This three-year grant will provide nearly $500,000 for efforts to educate and mitigate for bird collisions with glass through 2028 in Southeast Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Buildings will be retrofitted, and outreach and education will be provided at nature and environmental education centers, public libraries, and other selected sites to make them “bird-safe.” An application process and rubric will be created to prioritize projects for retrofitting.
